1. Georgia just opened up the race in the SEC East

Coming into this game, it looked like Georgia has the East wrapped up in a big Bulldog red bow. Now, after losing to LSU, they sit at one loss and are tied with Kentucky and Florida for that top spot in the East.

If you would have told me that anyone but Georgia would even have a chance to win the East, I would have called you crazy. However, here we are, and after Florida’s win over Vanderbilt today to improve to 6-1 and Kentucky’s singular loss over Texas A&M putting them at 5-1 the East is more open than ever.

Will the Bulldogs still pull out a championship? Well, they are in control of their own destiny as they play Florida and Kentucky within the next three weeks. They have a bye in Week 8 to prepare for those two teams who have given quite a few big names fits so far this season and they will need every minute of it to bounce back from this one.

This is the first time we really saw the Bulldogs tested and it didn’t end well. Either Kentucky or Florida could erase Georgia’s hope of a repeat National Championship trip in a hurry. Basically, the fate of the season rests in the next three weeks for the Dawgs.
