Michigan Football: Wolverines add to resume with big win over Wisconsin
Following a big win over Wisconsin, Michigan football looks like they’ll be in the College Football Playoff conversation for the remainder of the season.
Michigan and Wisconsin both entered the game ranked in the Top 15. The Badgers were right at No. 15. The Wolverines were three better at No. 12. Additionally, both teams entered the game undefeated in conference play, each with one nonconference loss.
Michigan dominated the first half, but the Badger’s defense kept them in the game. The Wolverines were forced to settle for four field goals but struggled in the kicking game, only making two of them. Despite moving the ball well on offense and finding themselves in good field position from a turnover, Michigan only led by six points at halftime.
In the third quarter, Wisconsin struggled to get anything going on offense, while Michigan continued to control the clock and keep the ball on the ground. In the quarter alone, Michigan ran for 106 yards on 15 carries.
When it was all said and done, the score read Michigan 38 – Wisconsin 13. before Wisconsin’s last drive of the game, quarterback Alex Hornibrook was 3-for-12 for 25 yards and threw two interceptions. He ended the game with 100 yards and a touchdown, but with a completion percentage of 35 percent. Part of this was due to Hornibrook’s inaccuracy. But the Wisconsin wide receivers also struggled to catch the ball even on good throws.
What else can we learn from Michigan’s impressive victory?
