The Irish will be tested at least three more times this season

When Pittsburgh started the second half off with a kickoff return for a touchdown, many Notre Dame fans could see the college football playoff slipping out of their hands, as the Fighting Irish missed a two-point conversion to tie the game, a sense of urgency seemed to fill the stadium.

This was clearly Notre Dame’s closest call this season, as the offense looked inept for most of the contest, but this isn’t the only tough game remaining on the schedule.

As we mentioned early they face Navy after the bye week, and then have a trip to Northwestern (who were almost upset by Nebraska), and then finish the year against FSU, Syracuse, and USC, all talented teams who have underachieved this year.

So between those games Navy, Syracuse, and USC should all play very well and give Notre Dame a legitimate scare, with FSU being a toss-up due to their inconsistency.

The Fighting Irish survived this one and should make the college football playoff with a 12-0 record, but won’t breeze through the rest of their schedule.
