1.  South Carolina’s offensive problems are bigger than Jake Bentley

First of all, I am shocked that South Carolina stuck with Jake Bentley for this entire game. He showed bright spots, including the two consecutive touchdown drives that tied the game at 16. However, he wasn’t able to really carry this team and put them in a position to really steal the game away from Texas A&M.

How much of the problem is the quarterback? A lot. Bentley isn’t a good quarterback. I’m sorry to have to put it like that, but here we are. He doesn’t have enough in the tank to carry this team to a truly successful season- one that ends in a championship. It doesn’t help that his receivers aren’t going all out to get the balls thrown to them though.

The answer isn’t to change quarterbacks. While the other guy may be better, he has to throw to the same receiver corps that Bentley does. That group isn’t playing like they want to win, they are playing not to lose and aren’t even doing that well. Drops are going to kick your butt in SEC play and the Gamecocks have already learned that the hard way.
