It was a close one in Columbia, but a win is a win for Texas A&M football. Which Aggies shined in the road matchup against South Carolina?
Texas A&M headed to Columbia, South Carolina with an undefeated streak against the Gamecocks on the line. It may have been close, but in the end Texas A&M left Williams Brice Stadium winners once again. Before we talk about the eight players who really stood out from the rest, let’s talk honorable mention.
We will start with quarterback Kellen Mond who wasn’t great, but was good enough to be the winning quarterback at the end of the day. I wouldn’t say he really earned a full on sticker or anything, but I was proud of what we saw from Mond- especially the fact that he was able to finish the game turnover free.
That was a worry going into this game as the Aggie offense had been victim of quite a few turnovers as of late, including one that tied the Kentucky game late and pushed that one into overtime. However, Kellen took care of the ball against the Gamecocks and that was enough to beat out Jake Bentley and South Carolina.
My other honorable mention goes to cornerback Charles Oliver, who had an interception of Jake Bentley on Saturday afternoon that really gave all of the momentum to Texas A&M. He is one of those guys in the secondary that has really stepped up so far this season and for that, I am thankful. The Aggies don’t have the best pass defense, but Charles Oliver was a shining star there on Saturday.
Now, let’s get to helmet stickers, shall we?
