The Week 8 slate in college football appears a bit weak from the surface, but with an increasingly unpredictable 2018 season, no week can be taken for granted.

The college football season has gotten chaotic over the last couple of weeks, and with so many top teams having noticeable flaws it’s easy to see why so many are suggesting that we could be in for a 2007-like finish to the season. Seven top 10 teams have gone down over the last two weeks.

Just two weeks ago it looked like there was a pretty firm handle on how things were going to shake out. Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Clemson, LSU, Notre Dame and Oklahoma were all still undefeated. The top one loss teams were clearly Auburn, Washington, and Penn State.

Since then, Georgia, LSU and Oklahoma, as well as West Virginia, all suffered their first losses of the season. Those top one loss teams now have two losses.

We still have a pretty good idea of the top four, with Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Notre Dame seeming like the obvious choices at the moment. But, we’re only a loss by one or two of those teams from everything getting turned upside down.

With Alabama and Ohio State both on the road, and Clemson facing their toughest test remaining on their regular season slate, will college football’s established hierarchy be overthrown?
