As more undefeated teams earn their first loss of the year, it becomes much easier to predict the Top 4 teams for this year’s College Football Playoff.

Up until this point in the college football season, we identified the Georgia Bulldogs as the biggest threat to Alabama. However, after a bad loss to LSU in Baton Rouge, our doubts are raised about Georgia’s chances to even make it to the SEC Championship Game.

Furthermore, there are now zero undefeated teams in the Big 12 since West Virginia somehow lost to Iowa State. The Cyclones were 2-3 entering the game, but defeated the Mountaineers, 30-14. West Virginia’s star quarterback, Will Grier, only had four incomplete passes, but only threw for 100 yards. This game, specifically, may come back to haunt Grier when it comes time to present the Heisman Trophy.

Weekly note on UCF

The UCF Knights barely escaped upset by beating the Memphis Tigers, 31-30. It took a few Memphis mistakes and a handful of miraculous plays by quarterback, McKenzie Milton, for the Knights to come back and beat the Tigers in Memphis.

UCF did not improve their AP Poll position this week, remaining at No. 10. This will not make UCF fans happy since Oklahoma had a bye week and jumped over the Knights from No. 11 to No. 9.

If the season ended today, UCF would likely get the fourth spot in the College Football Playoff. But due to their schedule, they will not be ranked at No. 4 when the CFP Committee announces their first rankings, even if they are still undefeated. It will take another unbeaten season and an American Athletic Conference Championship to convince the committee that they deserve a spot.

So who does deserve the number four spot at this point in the season?
