The 2018 Heisman Trophy race saw upsets this week that affected one player’s stock and a familiar face jumping back into the top five.

Everyone that watches college football and talks about college football continues to make the claim that Tua Tagovailoa is the sure thing to win the Heisman.

While his play has been exceptional there are a few players that are still in contention and they can make their cases for being the best player in the country.

Before we look at our top five let’s look at a few players that are our honorable mentions this week.

Clemson had the week off but Travis Etienne remains in our top seven due to his consistent play all season long. The Tigers face North Carolina State this week and Etienne will look to continue his hot start to the season. He has carried the ball 83 times for 761 yards and 11 scores. If he can have another great game he might be able to crack the top five next week.

West Virginia lost their shot at a potential spot in the college football playoff with their loss to Iowa State. Will Grier didn’t play well at all. He finished the game 11-of-15 for 100 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He was sacked seven times and never really had a chance to get the ball down the field. The Mountaineers face Baylor next so Grier should get back on track posting huge numbers.
