Iowa Football: 3 bold predictions against Maryland
Iowa football squares off with the Terrapins for the first time since 2015. Here are three bold predictions for Saturday’s game at Kinnick Stadium.
Iowa comes into this Saturday’s game with a 5-1 record and ranked No. 19 in this week’s AP Poll, a start that many in Hawkeye Country expected this season. Quarterback Nate Stanley has been one of, if not the hottest quarterbacks in the nation the last two weeks, throwing for 634 yards, 10 touchdowns and a quarterback rating of 175.36. Stanley has benefited from two All-American caliber tight ends in Noah Fant and T.J. Hockenson, who have caught a combined 45 passes for 691 yards and nine touchdowns.
Maryland has been no slouch in the first half of the season as well, although they have had their ups and downs. The Terrapins opened the season with a win against Texas, the only loss the Longhorns have suffered this season. However, Maryland followed up with an embarrassing loss to Temple two weeks later. The Terrapins have rebounded, and have a Big Ten record of 2-1, led by their prominent rushing attack and stellar defense.
This matchup is set up to possibly be a huge turning point in the season for both teams. Iowa hasn’t had a record this good, this late in the season since 2015, when it beat Maryland to improve to 8-0. The Terrapins, with a win, have a chance to show that the Big Ten has another solid program looking to compete and contend. With all that said a few bold prediction for Saturday’s game:
