The Florida Gators have easily been one of the biggest surprises this season, second to Kentucky who we will discuss in a minute. Part of it is Dan Mullen for sure, but the fact that Feleipe Franks has looked somewhat competent is a big-time surprise. Sure he has been carried by a defense that has played extremely well, but he still has done better than he did a season ago and that is a huge improvement.

The Gators have a bye week to help them prepare for the Georgia Bulldogs, a team they will have to beat if they want to win the East this season. That game will mean way more than anyone expected it to preseason that is for sure.

If anyone tries to tell you that they really saw the Wildcats coming at the level they have been playing at, they are lying to you. Kentucky is a basketball school through and through, but Benny Snell and the football team are well on their way to changing that.

The Kentucky Wildcats are another team who controls their own destiny in the East now that the high-flying Bulldogs sit with one loss just like Kentucky and Florida. It will be a photo finish for sure and the next three weeks could very well descend the conference into chaos.

This week, the Wildcats of Kentucky face off against Vanderbilt, a game that should be an easy win for them as they look to bounce back from a loss to Texas A&M in Week 6.
