Auburn football needs a rebound after a disappointing loss to Tennessee. Can they take advantage of an Ole Miss team who just lost a star wide receiver?

Ole Miss fans are excited about beating Arkansas for the first time in what feels like a lifetime but was actually simply four years. That should tell you about all you need to know about the Rebels this season. On the other hand, the defending SEC West champion Auburn Tigers aren’t doing all that well either. That’s especially true after they lost to a then bottom of the barrel Tennessee last week.

On those notes, let’s talk bold predictions shall we?

3. Losing DK Metcalf will be a crushing blow for Ole Miss.

Against Arkansas, Ole Miss lost receiver DK Metcalf for the season due to a neck injury. It is not related to his spine at all, so that is a big deal for his future. However, it will require surgery and that will knock him out and put Braylon Sanders in his place.

Now, this is nothing against Sanders or even against AJ Brown who may just be one of the best receivers Ole Miss has ever seen. My bold prediction is that losing DK Metcalf is a crushing blow for the Rebels. The team and the fans are heartbroken to lose him and understandably so.

With both Metcalf and Brown, the Rebels were already struggling through the season. With one of them gone? Yikes. It may be the end of the road for the Rebels this season, but that is okay because they aren’t eligible for postseason play anyway.
