Some big-name stars are on the injury report for Week 8 and unfortunately for college football fans, not all of them will play on Saturday:

Quarterbacks

Tua Tagovailoa – Alabama

The star Alabama quarterback practiced fully on Thursday after a week of worry. Tagovailoa re-aggravated his sprained right knee in Alabama’s rout of Missouri. There hasn’t been much of a need for Tua to play late in games this season, so there may be an early hook awaiting him on Saturday against Tennessee.

Khalil Tate – Arizona

Tate is officially out for the Wildcats game against UCLA on Saturday with an ankle injury. Sophomore Rhett Rodriguez will start for the Wildcats. Rodriguez has appeared in four games this season, throwing for 275 yards and a touchdown. This is a pivotal game for Arizona (3-4) if it wants to make a bowl game.

Chris Reynolds – Charlotte

Reynolds underwent season-ending ankle surgery on Tuesday and the 49ers will turn the starting job over to grad-transfer Evan Shirreffs, former three-star prospect at Miami (FL). Reynolds, a redshirt freshman, led the 49ers to a 3-3 record while throwing for 1,173 and six touchdowns. He threw for a season-high 283 and three touchdowns against UMass earlier this season. Shirreffs has appeared in two games this season, completing five passes for 118 yards and a touchdown.

Sam Ehlinger   Texas

Ehlinger missed nearly the entire game in the Longhorns 23-17 win over Baylor with a sprained AC joint. Herman said that Ehlinger was, “…progressing. Pretty much right on schedule. Three treatments a day. Pain is way down. Range of motion is up.” Ehlinger won’t have to force it this week as the Longhorns are on a bye.
