Oklahoma Football: 3 bold predictions for TCU battle in Week 8
Oklahoma football is coming off a tough loss and hitting the road to take on a struggling TCU team. Can the Sooners bounce back?
Fresh off their first loss of the season, the Oklahoma Sooners must showcase a short-term memory despite that defeat coming against rival Texas.
The Longhorns mounted a huge lead on the Sooners, but Oklahoma came back to knot things up in the fourth quarter before Texas kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired. Can the Sooners bounce back against a struggling TCU team on the road?
It seems like this one should be a clean win for the Sooners, but the Horned Frogs are no pushovers. Gary Patterson will have his guys ready to give Lincoln Riley’s crew a tough test in Week 8.
Let’s get bold ahead of Saturday afternoon’s matchup in Fort Worth.
3. Kennedy Brooks leads Sooners in rushing
Kyler Murray leads the Sooners in rushing and that’s not a huge surprise given the fact that Rodney Anderson fell victim to a season-ending injury early in the season.
The Sooners still have Trey Sermon, Marcelias Sutton and Kennedy Brooks, but one of those guys is beginning to look like the most effective rusher. He didn’t get much of a shot to prove himself against Texas because Oklahoma was too busy playing catch-up for 60 minutes, but Brooks is a name to keep an eye on.
The freshman back from Mansfield, Texas, has a strong 5-11, 205-pound frame and runs with a purpose. He’s accrued just 192 yards and three touchdowns on the season, but he’s done that on only 15 carries. To say he deserves more reps is an understatement.
Against TCU, he’ll get his shot.
Brooks will continue his red-hot start to the season and he’ll account for 100 yards, leading the Sooners on the ground.
