It wasn’t pretty, but Michigan Football left East Lansing with a big win as they continue their journey to the Big Ten championship game.

The game between the Michigan Wolverines and the Michigan State Spartans had everything you don’t want in a football game. From a weather delay to a terrible injury, the battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy had it all. Luckily for the Wolverines, they were able to overcome the weather and turnovers on the road to keep their playoff hopes alive.

While most of the game was tightly contested, it was Michigan’s quarterback, Shea Patterson who made some big plays with his legs, as he did last week in their win over Wisconsin. On Michigan’s drive that resulted in a touchdown that put them up 21-7, Patterson picked up two huge first downs on fourth and third down earlier in the drive.

For Michigan State, their offense could never get anything going outside of the Sparty Special. Even with extra opportunities provided by their defense, and the rain, the Spartans offense looked flat. And once wide receiver Felton Davis III went down with a torn Achilles, the offense looked to be in serious trouble.

The Wolverines came away with the win but much was to be said following the game. Check out our takeaways from Michigan’s Week 8 win:
