Ohio State Football: 3 takeaways from shocking loss to Purdue
2. Run game has been underwhelming
You might think that 185 yards per game on the ground is an impressive number, but for the No. 2 team in the country with backs such as JK Dobbins and Mike Weber, the 52nd-best rushing attack just isn’t going to cut it.
The Boilermakers’ defense was actually suffocating on the Buckeyes’ run game. Dobbins and Weber couldn’t find much running room all night long and this is a trend that you wouldn’t expect to continue with a veteran offensive line and one of the best running back duos in college football, but it might be a concern moving forward.
Dwayne Haskins can only do so much and the fact that he’s not a runner himself makes one less thing for defenses to worry about.
Dobbins and Weber finished with 48 yards on 18 carries.
Ohio State’s run game was underwhelming on Saturday night and has been slightly disappointing for the majority of the 2018 season.
