Ohio State’s loss to Purdue provides a shakeup to the College Football Playoff, and the bowl projections as a result.

Week 8 wasn’t as full of upsets as the last two weeks with chalk mostly holding across the nation. That was until Saturday night when Purdue made sure to provide a little bit of chaos to the established order of college football by rolling through Ohio State 49-20 at Ross-Ade Stadium.

The Buckeyes had been playing loose over the last several weeks, starting slow and taking until the second half to finally get things going. Unfortunately this time, the Boilermakers made them pay. By the time the Ohio State offense figured things out, their defense was too exhausted to stop Rondale Moore and the high-powered Purdue offense.

Ohio State’s loss provides a shakeup to the top of the bowl projections, knocking them out of the College Football Playoff for the time being. Who takes their place, and where do the Buckeyes drop to?

Several other teams clinched bowl eligibility while others took a step toward it. We’ve got a few new teams entering the projections this week and a few dropouts due to unexpected losses. The need to dig into the NCAA’s APR ratings is on the horizon as it seems unlikely that there will be enough bowl eligible teams to cover the field.
