How Arkansas looked against Tulsa

A victory over Tulsa by the final score of 23-0 was nothing to overtly brag about for Arkansas football, but it was a nice way to rebound after last week’s loss to Ole Miss. Arkansas controlled last week’s matchup against Ole Miss the entire way through three quarters to no avail once the Rebels got things going offensively in the middle of the fourth.

Injuries played a huge factor in that loss to Ole Miss too. And, that impact carried into this week’s matchup against the Golden Hurricane. Junior running back Devwah Whaley and junior quarterback Ty Storey were ruled out for this game due to varying injuries suffered against Ole Miss and that clearly hurt this team.

Those injuries tossed the breakout junior running back Rakeem Boyd and true freshman quarterback Connor Noland to the forefront. This was only the second appearance for Noland where he had a passing attempt in a game. The first came in that underwhelming loss early in the season to North Texas.

Although, both Noland and Boyd did exactly what they had to do to control the clock and suffocate the Tulsa offense. An improving defense combined with an ever changing offense in terms of personnel because of the numerous injuries formed a nice effort in the convincing victory. Noland tossed one touchdown and one pick in this win.
