The college football season is in full swing of conference play heading into Week 9. Here are the five reasons to be excited for the weekend.

Week 9 starts on Tuesday night with Troy heading not too far away from home to face South Alabama. The Trojans are 5-2 having lost to Boise State and Liberty. This game is on ESPN 2 at 8pm and should make for good TV even if the Jaguars are 2-5.

An extremely stacked Thursday night slate has teams like Baylor, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and Appalachian State. Friday night has Boston College on the upset trail against Mark Richt‘s ailing Hurricanes who don’t look like they’ve progressed from year one to year three in any way. Then super late on Friday night Chip Kelly looks for his third win in a row against an improving Utah team.

The weekend has an easy morning to get your workout in while peeking up at the noon slate of games as Wisconsin heads to Northwestern on FOX and Clemson is at Florida State on ABC at 12 ET. The 3:30 ET time slate is where the action starts with Iowa at Penn State, Florida versus Georgia in Jacksonville, Fla., and then USF at Houston as well.

Fans get a nice break until 7 p.m. ET where Wazzou heads to Stanford for a battle of the brains between Mike Leach and David Shaw. Tennessee could upset South Carolina so keep that on a third screen during the evening time frame. Then at 8 p.m. ET Notre Dame plays Navy in San Diego and Texas is at Oklahoma State; before 10:30 p.m. where Oregon is at Arizona on ESPN.
