Thursday night

Appalachian State at Georgia Southern, 7:30 p.m. EST, ESPN

This is a certified banger. Sometimes I get on here and just throw a matchup on because there are two ranked teams, and well, that’s interesting in itself, but this is no such game. App State just entered the top 25. They’re 5-1, and they’ve been destroying everyone in front of them. Meanwhile Georgia Southern is back to the option attack that makes that program work, and they come in at 6-1. This is the best game of the week. Do whatever you can to watch it.

One sentence sell: Even without Jalin Moore, this game is going to be excellent to watch, and you need to do it.

Friday night

Miami at Boston College, 7:00 p.m. EST, ESPN

Okay, so this isn’t a good game, at least not in the traditional way that we describe football games as being good or bad. However, it is an interesting game, and it’s a game with a lot riding on it. The winner has a pretty good shot at winning the ACC Coastal –If Virginia doesn’t do it first of course– and AJ Dillon will at least make it watchable.

One sentence sell: It’ll pass the time before the only real interesting game of the day starts at 10:30.

Utah at UCLA, 10:30 p.m. EST, ESPN

Hey, did you know that if UCLA wins this game, they’re firmly in the Pac-12 South race? The Bruins would be 3-2 in conference play, which is tied for first with USC. They’ve already beaten Arizona, and their loss to an inter-division foe is Colorado. That means the Bruins could win out, and need Colorado to lose just one more conference game to go to the Pac-12 championship game. A 7-5 conference championship participant. This conference is a disaster.

One sentence sell: The only way we can know for sure if UCLA is good now is by watching them.
