Coming into Friday night’s ACC league game between Miami and Boston College football, it was supposed to be the Hurricane defense that put it on lock down.

Instead, the Golden Eagles rose above the cloud, quieting Miami and earning a 27-14 victory to improve to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the league. Boston College still has games with Virginia Tech, Clemson, Florida State and Syracuse on the docket.

The loss was a crushing one for Miami in its hopes to return to the league title game, as the Hurricanes are now 5-3 and 2-2 with road games at Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech next month in back-to-back weeks.

AJ Dillon showed that he is one of the best backs – and probably the top “big” back – in the nation when healthy, returning from a two-game absence to run for 149 yards with a touchdown.

Malik Rosier, who started the year before being replaced by N’Kosi Perry, led the offense. The senior passed for 149 yards with a touchdown, but was also picked off twice. He did add a team-high 72 yards on the ground.
