Texas A&M football couldn’t live up to the hype, dropping a road contest to Mississippi State on the road following the Aggies’ off week.

Texas A&M went into this game high flying and feeling ready to take on the world. Don’t worry though, this game knocked them down a few notches quicker than anyone could blink. There was quite a few of moments that the Aggies could have had big time plays that would have let this one end very differently, but here we are, on the losing side of yet another late season conference game.

On the other side, we saw the reemergence of Mississippi State as Nick Fitzgerald finally decided to play football correctly again. Surprisingly enough, the Bulldogs were the better defense of the game. What else did we learn about both teams on Saturday?

3. Nick Fitzgerald is a thorn in the side of the Aggies, every single year.

As an Aggie, I would be more than happy to go back to the days of Johnny Manziel running all over the Bulldogs but sadly, that isn’t going to happen. We are now in the days of Nick Fitzgerald and man is that kid a pain in the butt for the other Maroon and White team in the SEC.

Everyone, including the College GameDay crew, was sure that this would be an Aggie victory. Honestly, not many Mississippi State fans seemed to be set on their team getting much more done this season. However, Fitzgerald had quite a few other plans in mind and was able to lead his team to victory.

Simply put, the day Nick Fitzgerald leaves for the NFL will be a day of happiness in Aggieland.
