Utah Football: 3 takeaways from blowout win over UCLA
By Zach Bigalke
1. Zack Moss couldn’t be stopped by the UCLA defense on Friday night
Through much of the first half, Utah running back Zack Moss provided the bulk of the offense for the Utes. In the first two quarters, Moss carried the ball 16 times for 141 yards and a touchdown. The veteran tailback added a three-yard reception as the Utes churned down the clock and wore down the UCLA defense.
Then, on the opening drive of the second half, Utah ground out the yards as Moss took more time pushing the ball downfield. He completed the drive to push the score to 24-7 for Utah, taking the ball and trucking a defender to stretch the ball over the plane of the goal line. A play that looked likely to lose a yard or two instead resulted in the second rushing touchdown of the day for Moss.
Moss ended the day with 26 carries for 211 yards and three rushing touchdowns. It was the first time that Moss went over 200 yards in a game in his college career, as the tailback was on fire against a Bruins team that had no answers for the challenge he presented.
