Penn State Football 2018: 5 bold predictions for November
By Shane Lunnen
2. Both Toney and Gross-Matos hit double-digit sacks
The Penn State defensive line has been a work in progress for most of the season. The Lions are young but have a lot of depth. Two of their defensive ends are starting to gain some steam the last couple games.
Against Indiana, Shaka Toney had a monster game and most of it occurred in the fourth quarter with the Lions holding onto a small lead. Toney finished the game with six total tackles, four of them sacks, and a forced fumble. His monster quarter overshadowed the solid game Yetur Gross-Matos had as well. He led the team in tackles with 10 and recorded two sacks.
In the Iowa game, Gross-Matos picked up where he left off. Again he lead the Lions in tackles, this time with nine total. He had two sacks and four tackles for loss.
Gross-Matos leads the team with six sacks and Toney is right behind him with five. Both players are hitting their stride heading into the final month. By the end of the regular season, both sophomores will have double-digit sacks.
