2 Notre Dame on upset alert

Notre Dame has been steamrolling opponents the past few weeks with a 44-22 win over Navy in week 9. The Irish are 8-0 and ranked 6th per the S&P+ analytics system. Brian Kelly always reminds you of why he makes the big money as soon as you’ve started to count him out. With the Fighting Irish undefeated they get to head to Evanston, IL to face the Northwestern Wildcats.

Northwestern spent week 9 upsetting the Wisconsin Badgers and Pat Fitzgerald‘s program has already knocked off Nebraska, Michigan State, Duke, and Purdue while also having blown a 17-0 lead over the Michigan Wolverines. Fitzgerald has always relied on having a hard nosed defense and an intelligent offensive scheme which fits the tranquil but competitive campus outside of the suburbs of Chicago.

Northwestern is led by quarterback Clayton Thorson who has had ups and downs in 2018. Thorson has thrown 10 touchdowns but also 10 interceptions while adding four more touchdowns on the ground for the Wildcats. Notre Dame is guided by quarterback Ian Book who is averaging 8.7 yards per pass and tossed 13 touchdowns with only four interceptions. Book is exactly what Kelly wants, a quarterback that limits mistakes while running the ball just enough to move the chains on 3rd down.

Prediction: Notre Dame by 3
