Here are three bold predictions for Notre Dame football as they continue their hunt for a postseason birth against Northwestern.

Despite a rich history in the 60s and 70s followed by a short stint in the early 90s, Notre Dame and Northwestern have met only once over the last 20 years. That one meeting came in 2014, a 43-40 Northwestern win in overtime. Since then, both programs have wedged mediocre years between 10-3 seasons from 2015 to 2017.

Today, head coach Brian Kelly has his Irish squarely in the playoff picture while Pat Fitzgerald’s Wildcats are enjoying a 5-1 record in the Big Ten. The Irish have logged big wins with both Brandon Wimbush and Ian Book under center, taking down top 25 opponents such as Michigan, Stanford, and Virginia Tech. Not to be outdone, Northwestern has beaten Michigan State and Wisconsin.

Now the Irish will travel a mere two hours to face off against the Wildcats for the 48th time in program history. Here are three predictions for Notre Dame as they look to improve to 9-0 on the season.
