Though there were just a handful of games, the rankings saw a shake up and the set up of big-time matchups. Here are the SEC football Power Rankings after Week 9.
More: Last week’s SEC Power Rankings
The first College Football Playoff rankings dropped early this week and once again the SEC had quite a strong presence within them. However, now we are talking about ranking all 14 teams within the SEC.
So without further ado, let’s get to ranking starting at the bottom and counting upward to the only undefeated team left: the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Arkansas has been anything but good this season. Their two wins come against Eastern Illinois and Tulsa. That is less than acceptable for a team that is supposed to be a member of the strongest conference in football.
No one is proud of this team, not the fans and certainly not those on the outside looking in. Chad Morris doesn’t have the handle on this team that many expected him to. Arkansas fans were sure that Morris would push them into the top half of the conference. Well, we all know how that is working out and it isn’t what was expected of those who hired him.
The good news? The Razorbacks can’t lose this week. It’s bye week and they aren’t competing with anyone for any special spot so they don’t have to score watch either. Yippee.
Ole Miss hasn’t fared too much better than Arkansas, except for the fact that their losses are to much stronger teams like Alabama and LSU instead of Colorado State and North Texas.
However, the Rebels just haven’t convinced me to let them out of the dog pound so to speak just yet. I haven’t really seen a reason for them to move around much at all. Yes, they can have a strong offense at times that could easily outplay anyone in the nation unless the opposing defense is actually decent. Speaking of defense though, the Rebels don’t have a defense to speak of and because of that they sit at No. 13 in the Power Rankings this week.
Ole Miss hosts South Carolina on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET. You can watch that one live on the SEC Network.
