The Clemson football team ran through the month of October, winning their three games by a combined score of 163-20. Next up: Louisville.

Does Louisville have anything in the tank to slow the Tigers down?

The Cardinals have dropped five in a row after starting the season 2-1 with a loss to Alabama and wins over Indiana State and Western Kentucky. During their slide, they have allowed 66 points to Georgia Tech and 56 to Wake Forest, a pair of teams Clemson had no trouble with.

Jawon Pass did throw for a high of 358 yards last week, his second 300-yard game of the season. Pass, though, will need more help this week against a Tiger defense loaded with future NFL talent.

Trevor Lawrence has shined over the past two weeks, throwing for 308 yards against NC State and a career-high 314 last Saturday vs. Florida State. Tee Higgins and Amari Rodgers each posted big games in those victories, with Travis Etienne two weeks removed from a string of four consecutive 100-yard performances.

Last year, the Tigers used a big first half to jump all over Lamar Jackson, also posting a victory two seasons ago, 42-36, when the Cards were ranked third behind the eventual Heisman winner.

Clemson owns a 4-0 record all-time vs. Louisville, with the average margin of victory in favor of the Tigers at 47-21.

Keys to Victory

Since slipping past Syracuse in September, 27-23, Clemson has looked like the lone team that can compete with Alabama. The Tigers bested Wake Forest by 60, NC State by 34 and Florida State last week by 49.

Clemson is averaging 44 points per game, with Louisville allowing 36. The Tigers are posting over 522 yards of total offense per game, with the Cardinals surrendering 438. Those two numbers alone do not bode well for Bobby Petrino’s crew.

Prediction

The Tigers appear to be in quite the zone right now on both sides of the football. Does Louisville have anything to match that? Look for Clemson to serve notice and make another statement out of the Cardinals.
