1. Benny Snell Jr. bottled up

Benny Snell Jr. has been one of the nation’s top running backs, leading the SEC in rushing yards with 935 to go along with 9 touchdowns. Snell has been THE Kentucky offense this season, single handily carrying the Wildcats down the field all season long.

The problem is, without the threat of a downfield passing attack, better defenses are able to key on Snell and take him away. It happened last week at Missouri as Snell was held to 67 yards on 3.5 yards-per-carry.

Georgia is softer in the middle this season without Roquan Smith, giving up 140 yards-per-game on the ground, which ranks 43rd in the country. Even in last week’s win over Florida, the Gators rushed for 170-yards.

Feleipe Franks isn’t an elite quarterback, but he has shown the ability to make plays down the field that would prevent Georgia from stacking the box. Kentucky’s Terry Wilson hasn’t shown an ability to be an effective downfield passer consistently, which will lead to Georgia stacking the box to take away Snell.

Wilson is averaging just 6.4 yards per pass attempt on the season, and had his first 200+ passing game of the season last week against Missouri.

If Kentucky is going to have a shot at shocking the world and wrestling away the SEC East from Georgia, they’ll need Wilson to make some plays with his arm down the field to open up some lanes for Snell to run through.

Wilson came up big on the road last week when he was needed most, but it’ll take more than 15 points to bring down Georgia and send Kentucky to Atlanta.

The Bulldogs have been excellent defensively on passing downs, and they’ll look to keep Kentucky behind the chains and force Wilson to make some throws. They’ll do that by loading up and trying to contain Snell.

Doing so could lead to a crucial Terry Wilson mistake…
