5. LSU beats Alabama

To kick off November football, LSU squares off with easily its toughest –– and most important –– opponent on its schedule for the 2018 season. This Saturday, the Tigers face No. 1 Alabama.

The Crimson Tide remain undefeated and have thrashed their competition in decisive fashion. No team has even come within striking distance of defeating Alabama. In fact, the lowest margin of victory the Tide have this season is by 22 points when Alabama beat Texas A&M, 45-23.

The Crimson Tide is a force on offense thanks to the stellar play by potential Heisman finalist Tua Tagovailoa. Alabama has yet to score less than 39 points in a game.

Historically, Alabama leads the now annual meeting by a landslide and unsurprisingly have taken down the Tigers each of the last seven times these teams have lined up across from one another.

LSU’s most recent victory against Alabama came in 2011 in what was coined the “Game of the Century.” Both teams were locked in a field goal battle before the Tigers edged out a 9-6 victory in overtime.

The Tigers have a lot to play for. Not only does LSU need to continue winning in order to be a mainstay in the top 4, but a win against Alabama will vault them to the top of the SEC West. This would put LSU in an ideal situation moving forward in the season.

Better yet, the Tigers have the advantage of playing on home turf. This should serve LSU well in amidst a very promising season.
