2. Temple’s Anthony Russo had a career-night

Most of the attention in this game was focused on the health of McKenzie Milton, the starting quarterback for UCF. Instead, it was Temple’s Anthony Russo who stole the headlines on this evening.

Russo, just a sophomore, definitely locked himself into the role of starting quarterback over these last few weeks. He had a 300-yard performance in a win over Navy, followed by a three-touchdown showing vs. Cincinnati in an overtime victory.

He finished completing 31 passes for 444 yards with four touchdowns and two picks, adding another 46 yards rushing on 12 carries with a touchdown.

All but one of his touchdowns through the air have come over the past four games, as Russo also had a four-TD effort with his 254 yards vs. East Carolina.

Russo enrolled at Temple in 2016 and redshirted, following that up with a limited season a year ago. Despite losing the quarterback battle, he remained steadfast and has rewarded the Owls since taking over during a September win vs. Maryland.
