1. That first half hurt UCF’s chances

When you give up 34 points to a team like Temple, on national television, it is not a good thing. The UCF defense was picked apart by the Owls in the first 30 minutes, as Anthony Russo had his way.

Of course, the Knights recovered, just like they did a few weeks ago when they allowed Memphis to rack up over 300 yards before getting into a rhythm vs. the Tigers.

The main issue, though, for UCF stems from all that attention that a crazy first half like the one Thursday night generated. With just two other games going on, and both being in the MAC, the eyes of the college football world were glued to the Knights.

If UCF hopes to make a climb to the Top-4 in the College Football Playoff, allowing teams like Temple to do what they want on offense will do them no good. The Knights need to dominate in all areas through four quarters of action each and every week of the season to prove they belong with the Alabamas, the Clemsons and the rest of the Power 5 big dogs.
