5. Sam Ehlinger will surpass 30 total touchdowns

Prior to the season beginning, there was much speculation of who should start at quarterback but now it’s clear that Herman made the right choice.

Quarterback Sam Ehlinger has been the leading catalyst in the Longhorns offense this season, accounting for over 2,100 yards and 21 touchdowns on the season. And to keep the Longhorns on place for a conference title, they’ll need another big month from Ehlinger.

Ehlinger will cross the 30 total touchdown mark by month’s end. He is averaging just under three touchdowns a game and that includes one game in which he only played one quarter. Ehlinger’s performance this season has been over shadowed by the amazing play of others at the quarterback position, but should still be recognized for how well he has played.

The Texas school record for touchdowns in a season is 45 so it will be tough for Ehlinger to reach, but if he can perform as he has, he can finish second on that list, surpassing none other than Vince Young.
