Georgia and Kentucky football squared up in a huge SEC East showdown in Lexington, but the road Bulldogs came away with the upper hand in the division.

It was perhaps one of the more overlooked matchups on “Statement Saturday” with big names such as Alabama-LSU and Penn State-Michigan. However, Georgia-Kentucky proved to be a big time clash as Georgia came in ranked #6 and Kentucky came in ranked #9. In the biggest football game since 1950 for Kentucky football, they played well, but Georgia showed to be so much better than everyone else in their 34-17 win.

With the win, Georgia (8-1) gains the upperhand on the race for the SEC East and barring a monumental November collapse, will likely represent the East in Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game. Kentucky (7-2) moves to 5-2 in the conference but has a shot at their first 10-win season since 1977, where the Wildcats finished 10-1 but did not participate in a bowl due to NCAA sanctions.

Jake Fromm looked like a seasoned veteran and a high-ranking field general, making the big throws when needed and directed the Georgia attack with precision, and got a big boost from his running game.

Here are the three biggest takeaways from Georgia’s statement win against Kentucky on this “Statement Saturday”
