2. The secondary continues to be a big-time issue for the Aggies.

The defensive line has been amazing for Texas A&M so far this season, led by guys like Daylon Mack, Landis Durham and Kingsley Keke. However, it is the secondary that has caused issues for this defensive unit and possibly been to blame for a loss or two when it really comes down to it. When you are giving up touchdowns on down the field, you know that there is a problem that needs to be fixed immediately.

Simply put, the offense can win the time of possession battle and the line can block amazingly, but if the secondary can’t stop big-time plays down the field your team is going to have a bad time. We saw a prime example of said “bad time” as the Aggies visited Starkville a week ago. As much as I hope and pray that this isn’t true, my bold prediction is that this unit continues to be a weak spot for Texas A&M that could get them into trouble down the stretch.

This isn’t to say that there aren’t talented players in the secondary. It is to say that the majority of those guys are young and still feeling out football at the college level, so to speak. While this unit could be really good in a couple of seasons, as of right now it is a liability of sorts and I don’t see that changing in 2018.
