Utah football saw their stranglehold over the Pac-12 South disappear as a close game against Arizona State got out of hand in the final 15 minutes.

Utah and Arizona State matched each other blow for blow through the first three quarters of their Pac-12 affair on Saturday. The Sun Devils struck first and kept the lead through the duration of the game, but Utah was never far behind. The Sun Devils led 21-17 at halftime and the Utes cut the lead to 21-10 in the final minutes of the third quarter.

Then the fourth quarter started and the wheels fell off the Utah wagon. N’Keal Harry and Eno Benjamin both tallied 40+ yard touchdowns with a Brandon Ruiz field goal tucked in between. When the final whistle blew a 1-point game had turned into a three-score blowout.

It was a disheartening result for Utah fans who thought 2018 would be the year they could stake their claim to the Pac-12 South. Meanwhile, Herm Edwards wild season in Tempe continues to get even more interesting. What did we learn about both teams? Here are three takeaways from the Arizona State win.
