3. Chase Brice/Trevor Lawrence, QB

Apart, neither Chase Brice or Trevor Lawrence really did all that much in a 77-point performance by Clemson this past week. But when you put their numbers together, it gives you a sort of “Wow” to the day.

Lawrence, the freshman sensation who took over the job from Kelly Bryant earlier this year, was 8-for-12 for 59 yards with two touchdowns. Brice, who came on for Lawrence when he got hurt vs. Syracuse in a come-from-behind victory, was 6 of 7 for 110 yards and three touchdowns.

Quickly put those numbers together and you have a 13-for-19 day for 169 yards with five touchdown passes. That coming a week after Lawrence tied his career-high with four passing touchdowns and 314 yards in a rout of Florida State.

Brice isn’t about to unseat the top recruit for the role of starting quarterback, but if Clemson can continue to get him this many attempts and action in real time as opposed to garbage time, it will only create more strength at the position.
