College Football Playoff Rankings 2018: Top 25 projections for Week 11
By Zach Bigalke
Kansas has been better this year than in past seasons, but they were no match for Iowa State. The Cyclones came to Lawrence and dominated the Jayhawks for a 27-3 victory. The win pushed the Cyclones to 5-3 on the year, setting them up for a shot at reaching bowl eligibility in Week 11 and keeping them alive for a longshot bid at a spot in the Big 12 title game.
Brock Purdy threw for 263 yards and three touchdowns against Kansas on 16-of-23 passing. Purdy added 27 rushing yards, as the Cyclones generally struggled to move the ball on the ground against Kansas. But while the Jayhawks were able to field a more balanced offense, they were unable to find the endzone against the Iowa State defense.
Now Matt Campbell’s team needs to win one more to reach bowl eligibility. They face Baylor next week at home, travel to Texas in mid-November, and end November with a home date against Kansas State. If the Cyclones don’t reach the Big 12 championship, they close out the regular season on December 1 with a game against FCS Incarnate Word that will make up the South Dakota State season opener that was canceled.
