After squandering a 21-0 lead, Washington football held on for a 27-23 victory over Stanford late Saturday night in #Pac12AfterDark action.

The Huskies seemed to be in complete control after Myles Gaskin found the end zone from six yards out early in the second quarter. But KJ Costello worked his magic and Bryce Love found some success again on the ground.

After a missed extra-point with just over three minutes left, the Cardinal were forced to try for a last-ditch effort instead of a potential game-tying field goal. Costello’s pass fell incomplete and Washington survived.

The Huskies were in a bit of desperation mode after losing two of their last three, including a 12-10 loss last week to California. With the win, they are now 7-3 overall and 5-2 in the Pac-12 with a season-ending contest against Washington State looming very large.

Stanford drops to 5-4 on the year and 3-3 in the league, as they finish out with winnable games vs. Oregon State, California and UCLA. But, after opening the year 4-0 with wins over USC and Oregon, the final month-plus has been a tough one for David Shaw and company.

Here are three takeaways from Washington’s win over Stanford Saturday night:
