The 2018 Heisman Trophy race saw a few of the top-ranked players put up big numbers to boost their candidacy as we head into the final weeks of the season.
Our 2018 Heisman Trophy power rankings have seen a number of the usual people in the top five this season. It’s been a testament to how good these players have been all season long as they help their teams win potential championships.
The big matchup of the weekend was Heisman favorite Tua Tagovailoa against LSU’s talented secondary in a battle of top three teams. Before we get into our top five let’s look at our honorable mentions for this week.
No. 7: McKenzie Milton– Quarterback, UCF
Mckenzie Milton has led the Knights to an undefeated record and a potential New Years Six Bowl. The talented junior did just enough to get his team the victory over Temple this past week. He finished the game 17 for 33 with 312 yards passing three touchdowns and one interception. He also ran the ball seven times for 19 yards and a score. Milton has thrown for over 300 yards in four games this season and has posted multiple touchdowns in every game except a win over FCS opponent South Carolina State.
No. 6: Will Grier– Quarterback, West Virginia
Grier and the Mountaineers offense had another great showing against Texas this week in a matchup of top 15 teams. He finished the game 28-42 with 346 yards passing and three touchdown passes. On the season he has 28 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. A matchup against TCU this week should be a favorable one, as the Horned Frogs defense hasn’t been able to stop anyone the last few weeks.
