The frustrations of the fans of the Oregon Ducks are interesting since the success for the program can pretty recently. Oregon just hosted former head coach Chip Kelly for the first time since he left the program for the NFL. At least the Ducks were able to take care of business against Kelly and UCLA at home in his return to Eugene.
Since Kelly left the Ducks, things went far downhill in Eugene with three different head coaches at the helm. Mark Helfrich definitely didn’t pan out and we’ll have to wait and see what happens with Mario Cristobal. But, current Florida State Seminoles head coach Willie Taggart bolted after just one year in Eugene.
Outside of one nice run to the first College Football Playoff National Championship Game with a Heisman winning quarterback in Marcus Mariota back in 2014, Oregon has been filled with nothing but disappointment since. Oregon also has no national titles despite how strong this program usually is.
In its program history, Oregon does hold 11 conference with four of them coming within the past 10 years. Kelly also guided this program to national prominence each year from 2008-2013. Helfrich had some success off the coattails of Kelly with that Playoff appearance and eventual loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2014.
