Losses in Week 10 sent two teams tumbling out of the Group of Five Power Rankings. Another fell from a top-three spot to just above the cut line this week.

It was a rough week for contenders and secondary hopefuls among the Group of Five. Three of the teams ranked in the Group of Five Power Rankings after Week 9 stumbled in their follow-up performance, sending a pair of them out of the rankings altogether.

The third team on the list, Houston, hovers precariously among the 10 best teams in the Group of Five this week. They haven’t fallen completely out of the list solely because they still maintain a one-game lead in the AAC West standings over the SMU team that took them down over the weekend.

Fate was not as kind to Georgia Southern or Florida International, which both dropped out after losses to Louisiana-Monroe and Florida Atlantic respectively. Just below the cut line, South Florida missed a prime opportunity to climb back up into the top 10 after they were pummeled 41-15 at home by Tulane.

We are at the point of the season where the field is quickly winnowing down. Teams with two losses or fewer are increasingly dwindling in supply, and it is unlikely that the selection committee is going to pick a Group of Five champion with more than two defeats as their New Year’s Six representative.

With that out in the open and fresh on the mind, let’s look at the top 10 teams in the Group of Five conferences after Week 10 and see who could still get into that lucrative major bowl game.
