Former LSU head coach Les Miles has emerged as a leading candidate to be the next head coach for the Kansas football program. The Jayhawks couldn’t choose a better guy.

“They should hire Les Miles” has been someone’s reaction to every head coaching vacancy over the last two years. The former national championship-winning head coach at LSU is one of the most well-known characters in modern college football. It felt like only a matter of time before someone hired him — now is the time.

The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman reported Miles is believed to be the frontrunner to be the next head coach for Kansas football. The report itself was meant with staunch opinions on either side. Some espouse Miles’ absence from the sideline is proof he’s washed up and done with coaching for good. Others remember the antics and swagger of Miles with the Tigers and wonder if he might have a little more juice left.

It might not be the conventional hire, but for Kansas, Les Miles is absolutely the right man for the job. Here are a few reasons the Jayhawks need to pull the trigger and hire Les Miles.
