After taking down Northwestern on the road, Notre Dame football looks to fend off another upset in a Week 11 matchup vs. Florida State.

While Notre Dame’s schedule appeared to be quite harrowing to start the season, their strength of schedule has since suffered as a result of underachieving opponents. Heading into the 2018 season, Notre Dame was set to face off against five ranked opponents consisting of Michigan, Stanford, Virginia Tech, Florida State, and USC.

However, the college football landscape has seen a dramatic shift since the preseason rankings. With all but one of those teams (No. 4 Michigan) falling out of the top 25, the Irish must win out in order to solidify themselves within the College Football Playoff’s top four teams. With No. 13 Syracuse serving as the last top 25 team on Notre Dame’s schedule, a CFP birth is certainly on the table.

However, the Irish will have to take down former ACC powerhouse Florida State before even thinking about their matchup with the Orange. Combine the Seminoles’ historic success with their recent propensity for ineffectiveness and what you get is a potential wildcard threat. Here are three bold predictions for this upcoming matchup between two storied programs.
