Syracuse Football: Orange add to Louisville’s mounting losses
By Zach Bigalke
No. 13 Syracuse football had no trouble against Louisville on Friday night. What did we learn from the Orange blowout of the Cardinals at the Carrier Dome?
After rising up to No. 13 in the latest College Football Playoff selection committee’s rankings on Tuesday night, Syracuse justified their high ranking by overpowering Louisville in a 54-23 victory on Friday night.
The win at home boosted the Orange to 8-2 on the season, as they took advantage of a listless Cardinals side that gave up 133 points in the previous two weeks. Louisville gave up more than 50 points for the fifth time in 10 games this year, as Syracuse’s performance fit in line with the results of other high-ranked teams like Alabama (51-14 in the season opener) and Clemson (77-16 in Week 10).
As one of the top offenses in the country ran away with the result, Syracuse also kept alive dreams of a New Year’s Six bid this postseason. The ACC crown is entirely out of reach, since Clemson is up two games with two conference games remaining and holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Orange. But a major bowl berth is by no means out of reach.
What can we take away about both teams from this mismatch on Friday night in the Empire State? Here are three things we learned about the two ACC foes in Week 11 action.
