Georgia football was tested early by Auburn, but ultimately pulled away for a comfortable win in their final SEC regular season game.

You couldn’t fault Georgia for beginning to peak ahead at a rematch with Alabama in Atlanta in three weeks, but Kirby Smart was able to keep his team focused in Athens as they overcame a slow start to ultimately come away with a comfortable 27-10 win over rival Auburn.

The Bulldogs rode a big game from sophomore RB D’Andre Swift, as well as a suffocating performance from their defense to dispatch the Tigers and avenge last season’s regular season loss on the Plains.

With just a 13-10 lead late in the first half, Smart decided to roll the dice on a fourth-and-three from the Auburn 38-yard late with 30-seconds remaining in the first half. It paid off as Jake Fromm hit Terry Godwin on a slant route, and Godwin took it to the house to give the ‘Dawgs a two-score lead at the half.

Swift put the final nail in the Auburn coffin in the fourth quarter with a 77-yard touchdown run that shut the door on any potential Auburn comeback attempt.

The Tigers came to play, but the Bulldogs were simply the superior team on Saturday night. What did we learn Georgia’s 17-point win?
