Mississippi State Football: 5 Reasons the Bulldogs will roll the Tide
5. Alabama’s Kicking Game
So Alabama has the 5th ranked passing offense, the 24th ranked rushing offense, the first ranked scoring offense, and currently average 565.6 yards per game. The offense is humming in a way that we’ve never seen and that’s largely in part to the offensive firepower that Tua Tagovailoa brings to their offense.
Unfortunately, the kicking game is quite at the level they’d like it to be. Joseph Bulovas took over for the departing Andy Pappanastos and has done mostly okay throughout the season. Bulovas is a Freshman and is kicking 94 percent on his extra points. His field goal kicking is a different story. With the Tide’s offense playing as well as it has, the freshman from Mandeville, LA has attempted 13 field goals this season and has only hit nine of them.
If Alabama were put into a position where they had to rely on Bulovas like they’ve had to rely on kickers in the past, could you really assure that he’d make it. Everything on Alabama’s roster is battle tested, The offense against LSU and the defense against Ole Miss but the kicking game hasn’t been placed in a spot where it mattered the most.
Can Alabama make a last-second field goal with a Freshman kicker who has never faced a level of pressure like kicking a game-winning field goal? Especially if the kick comes from range.
