West Virginia Football: 3 takeaways from blowout of TCU in Week 11
1. Will Grier continues to be a serious Heisman candidate
Outside of a tough loss to Iowa State where he threw for 100 yards, Will Grier has been one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the country. Actually, it could be argued that he’s been the best quarterback in the nation not named Tua Tagovailoa this year.
Against TCU, it was expected he’d have a big game, but he continues to make it look easy. He had an interception early on, but he rebounded with three touchdowns and over 300 yards through the air.
Not only did he hit eight different receivers, and six more than once, but he was accurate yet again, completing 64 percent of his throws. He is approaching 3,000 yards on the season and has surpassed the 30-touchdown mark with eight interceptions.
If Tagovailoa somehow slips up in the remaining two games, look for Grier to take a lead in the Heisman race as he’s yet to be eliminated with his strong play.
