No. 2 Clemson Football avoided an upset, taking down Boston College in a cold road matchup to secure another ACC Coastal crown.

Good teams win, Great teams cover. That’s about the best way I can describe what Clemson did to Boston College on Saturday night. The Tigers defense played as lights out as ever and it showed as the Eagles finished with less than ten total yards on the ground.

Stud Boston College running back AJ Dillon took 16 carries and couldn’t get much going with only 39 yards. Dillon’s 2.4 yards per carry is the worst of his career and he would’ve likely done better had the gameplan not changed so drastically early on.

The change to the gameplan was a direct result of Anthony Brown’s injury. Brown tried to throw the ball away as he was being sacked. Unfortunately for Brown, Clemson defensive tackle Christian Wilkins had already committed to the hit and took him down to the ground. Brown’s arm went in a rather unusual direction and the Boston College training staff told Steve Addazio Brown’s day was done.

Clemson’s offensive gameplan was rather unusual with 41 passing attempts with Heisman-hopeful running back Travis Etienne only garnering 11 carries. Boston College did zero in on the run a bit, but any back that’s averaging over nine yards per carry going into the game is hard not to feed. Here’s what we learned about both teams on Saturday.
