3. player. 42. . Defensive Tackle. Houston Cougars. Ed Oliver

The San Francisco 49ers have spent a lot of draft capital on their defensive line over the past few NFL Drafts, selecting Arik Armstead, DeForest Buckner, and Solomon Thomas, but might have to dip into that well again in 2019 with Houston’s Ed Oliver still on the board at No. 3.

Oliver, much like the next pick, is a can’t-miss prospect. Assuming he adjusts to the NFL from playing in the American Athletic Conference, the 6-foot-3 junior should wreak havoc in the NFL for the next decade.

Prior to the 2018 season, Oliver landed on just about every award’s Watch List, including the Walter Camp, Maxwell, Bednarik, Bronko Nagurski, and the Outland Trophy.

In 2017, he was named the Outland Trophy Winner, a consensus All-American, a Walter Camp All-American, and the AAC’s Defensive Player of the Year, among other hardware. In 31 career games at Houston, Oliver’s totaled 120 solo tackles (69 assists), 52 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, 10 pass deflections, and five forced fumbles.
