The disparity between the top-four College Football Playoff teams, and the rest of the field, has dramatically increased after Week 11.

Mayhem is not a word that I would use to describe the Week 11 games for those teams atop the College Football Playoff rankings. However, you could say the rest of the field is going to have quite a bit of shakeup after this week.

Eight of the Top 25 teams earned another loss. That’s nearly one-third of the teams.

A handful of others won in close games that probably only hurt their rankings. For example, while Alabama shut out Mississippi State, and Clemson dominated Boston College in Boston, No. 5 Georgia was losing, at home, to Auburn at the end of the first quarter. The Bulldogs won the game, but did not prove to anyone that they should improve in the College Football Playoff rankings.

Additionally, No. 6 Oklahoma was a missed extra point away from going into overtime with unranked Oklahoma State. Winning by a single point, at home, is not the level of play one would expect from a playoff contender. Lastly, Arkansas is the worst team in the SEC and No. 7 LSU was only able to win by a single touchdown.
